KSEA National Mathematics and Science Competition (NMC 2010) on April 24

The Korean-American Scientist and Engineers Association (KSEA) is pleased to announce that the National Mathematics Competition will be held on April 24 (Saturday), 2010. The KSEA NMC covers ethnic Korean students in the 4th through the 11th grades. The goal of this event is to promote their interest in mathematics and careers in the fields of science and engineering. This is a nation-wide including Canada event. In Southern California, this event will be held at University of California, Irvine (UCI).

1) Registration Online Registration Here
The deadline for pre-registration: April 21. Registration fee is $25 for online and mail-in registration and $35 for onsite registration.
Registration is accepted through online. Or you can mail your Registration Form (click this to download the form in MS Word or in PDF). However, we strongly recommend the online registration. If you already registered but didn't pay the fee, please send $25 application fee along with your confirmation including the registration ID and name to the following address:

You will need the Registration ID and Password for your score checking after the test as well as for faster and easier check-in. If you lost or don't know your Registration ID and password, please send us email at math@ksea-sc.org ASAP. We plan to give higher priority to those who paid the fee if we have to limit the number of participants. Onsite registration is discouraged because of the tight schedule.

2) Date & Time: April 24 (Saturday)
Check-in will begin at 9:00am. The official event will begin at 10:00am. We expect several hundreds of students participating in this event. So, please plan to arrive early so that you can finish your check-in before the event starts.

3) Location: Physical Science Plaza, University of California, Irvine

4) Qualifications: Students from 4th to 11th grade with Korean Heritage

5) Type of Test (only in English)
Questions may require a simple numeric answer or multiple-choice questions. The test will last 60 minutes for the grades 4th through 8th and 90 minutes for the grads 9th through 11th. Different sets of questions will be provided for students at each grade. Please bring your pencil and eraser. No calculators or rulers are allowed. see the sample test

6) Science Contest
There will be a Science Contest for the students with the grades 4th through 8th after the Math Contest. Registration for the Science contest is free.

7) Parent Program
This year, a special program is available to parents attending the event. KSEA-SC Chapter will invite guest speakers to give a seminar about college selection, admission, scholarships, successful college life, and career options.

8) Donation Please note that KSEA is a non-profit organization operated by membership fees. We will very much appreciate your contribution to support this event for our students.
